Breakfast of Champions #34 – Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Art

On 30 November, we served Breakfast of Champions No. 34 in the Art Academy of Latvia’s new corpus. Adhering to the best breakfast traditions, it was served in three courses.
We warmed up with a colourful look back at this year’s Lisbon Web Summit and were treated to the most delicious insights cooked up by DDB Latvia HUB Account Manager Mārtiņš Līcis and DDB Latvia Consulting Strategist Oskars Toms Lībers. Is artificial intelligence really starting to take over the world? Which digital tools are used by global brands to enhance their experience and what are the latest dimensions of marketing? At the summit, answers to these and other questions were sought by representatives from various fields, but you’ll have to watch the video to discover the most interesting discoveries in the digital realm according to Mārtiņš and Oskars.
We were treated to a main course in the form of the story about what is currently the most viewed film of Latvia’s centenary, “Homo Novus” and the background to its filming, as told by its producer and CEO of Film Angels Production Ivo Ceplevičs. It turns out that our filmmakers have long been using tricks and special effects worthy of Hollywood to create an authentic environment for events depicted back in the day. In this case the task was to recreate the atmosphere of 1930s Riga. Watch Ivo Ceplevičs’ story to learn how the stars’ costumes were designed, how the locations were chosen and how it was possible to cast so many outstanding Latvian film actors in a one film.
And then it was time for dessert during which we sampled painter and Art Academy of Latvia Prorector Andris Vītoliņš’ insights into artists’ egoism. Andris shared his thoughts on how works can be successfully delegated in the context of art, as well as what defines a successful artist. And, ultimately, who is the artist responsible for the work if the idea has been conceived by one artist but painted by another? You’ll discover these and other unusual nuances of the art world by watching this video.
Thank you to all the breakfast chefs for the captivating menu and to the breakfasters for attending the event! See you at the next breakfast, when we will once again reveal new creative horizons!
