One can register now for the TEDxRiga Conference "The Four Elements"!
The second TEDxRiga Conference, with its keynote of "The Four Elements" will take place in Latvia on 13th June at the Splendid Palace Cinema. Anyone can register now at the TED Conference’s home page on www.tedxriga.com.
DDB Latvia have the honour of being the authors of the TEDxRiga creative concept and design. The theme of the four elements – Air, Fire, Water and Earth – has been chosen as the keynote for the conference.
It is believed that all of these elements make up the foundation for the earth’s existence and – together or separately – fill important roles in both nature, as well as within ourselves. To realize ideas and to reach our goals, we use our closest and most substantial element. "At the TEDxRiga Conference we will invite you to clarify – which of these elements is the closest for each of us and which of them guides us toward achievements," explains Pāvils Jurjāns, a representative of the organizers of TEDxRiga 2013.
The conference will take place in four thematic parts - Air, Fire, Water and Earth – in which more than 20 speakers from Latvia and other countries will present their stories. Just like last year we’ll see some surprising artistic performances. Currently the first speakers in each section have been revealed: In the "Air" session we’ll meet children’s books and Children’s Science and Curiosity Centre BLUE WONDERS (ZILI BRĪNUMI )author Aldis Kalniņš, the "Fire" session will be represented by Moscow resident Alekss Dubass who is the face of the Silver Rain (Серебряный дождь) radio and television programme, political scientist Vita Matīss will be presenting under the "Water" sign, while in the "Earth" block of stories we’ll see architect Zaiga Gaile and businessman Māris Gailis.

The TED movement was begun by professionals from three different fields, also forming the TED name – technology, entertainment and design. The TED motto is "Ideas worth spreading". Today, TED with the help of the internet, is available to anyone interested and has more than 11,000 presentations.
The first TEDxRiga Conference, the "Art of Doing", which took place on 14th June 2012, gained huge popularity both on the day of the event as well as later, when it became possible to watch recordings of the lectures on the internet. There were 150 viewers attending the conference on site, while a direct telecast was followed by about 13,000 viewers, but more than 40,000 internet users have now watched the videos placed on youtube.
