Breakfast of Champions #31 Serves a global menu

Breakfast of Champions #31 Serves a global menu

On March 9, we gathered in the modern TEIKUMA co-working space to collectively experience the 31. Breakfast of Champions. In this exquisitely designed location we enjoyed a truly international and intellectually stimulating meal.

Our journey began in Portugal, where DDB’s own Senior Project Manager Ance Jēkabsone and Project Director Annija Vītola shared their joint experience of the Lisbon Web Summit - the largest tech conference in the world. Together we pondered some truly complex questions - How do we guide AI so that it serves us, and not the other way around? What innovations in the VR and AR world will change our day-to-day experiences? And what does the future have in store for drones and self-driving cars? To find answers to these questions, watch the video:

Ingmārs Pūķis, the Vice-President of LMT, returned as a speaker for the third time to divulge how a Latvian company managed to get one step ahead of Europe’s biggest mobile companies. In collaboration with artists Katrīna Neiburga and Andris Eglītis, the garage-as-a-company’s-birthplace concept was brought to Barcelona’s impressive Mobile World Congress, where LMT took the world by storm with their unique innovations. What are they? Watch this video, to find out:

Next, Dan Toma from Stuttgart, who is a Startup Wise Guys mentor and an innovation practitioner, told us what big companies can learn from start-ups. We received great tips about how to design experiments, so that a company can grow in the right direction. By the way, Dan’s book ‘'The Corporate Startup’' was just named the ‘’Management Book of the Year’’, so it’s definitely worth hearing what he has to say.

Finally, it was time to head back home - to Latvia. Oļegs Ņikitina revealed how he created TEIKUMS, what defines a creative space, and what the preconditions for creativity are. After seeing Oļeg’s story, you will definitely question your own workspace and be tempted to change it!

We hope you found this breakfast filling and that your thirst for innovations and experiments has been ignited. See you in the summer!
