Champions Breakfast No 28 - Talent Hunt, Museum League, Disciplinary Art

Once again the very complete Champions Breakfast was organised, this time at the Art Museum Riga Bourse. The breakfast included three different stories about achievements – how to reach them, as well as how they appeared.
First up was the director of the exchange, Daiga Upeniece, who talked about ways in which museums in the Baltic States can join the highest league in Europe. She shared her experience and insisted that the most important thing is the human factor. Even the biggest companies depend on their employees, and often the most important thing is to choose the right kind of partnership and to establish contacts.
Between meals we got a surprise from the chef. Composer Jānis Lūsēns performed a fragment of his new concert programme, “Beyond: Music Late at Night.”

Next up was the founder of ERDA, the only agency that provides consultations to Latvian employers, Zane Čulkstēna. She took us on an exotic 21st century talent hunt, speaking about ways of presenting a company’s image so that it is attractive to employees. It turns out that the rules of the game have fundamentally changed. Employers now seek employees, while employees only need to leaf through offers that they have received.
Third up at the breakfast stove was the artist Krišs Salmanis, who is a champion in the league of artists and a recipient of the prestigious Purvītis Prize. Krišs said that contemporary art cannot be divorced from the contemporary world, sharing his experience about the creative process and the development of rational concepts in the world of art. The way in which the artist analysed his work in a very rank way made it possible to compare and contrast the creative sector to other sectors, also gaining inspiration to continue the pursuit of goals.
After breakfast we took a tour of the Art Museum Riga Bourse. together with its director, Daiga Upeniece. Photos from the 28th Breakfast of Champions can be found here.
We look forward to the next Champions Breakfast in August!
