DDB LATVIA WINS LATVIA’S FIRST EURO EFFIE GOLD

Something historical happened in Latvia’s advertising industry yesterday – a gold medal from the prestigious Euro Effie Awards 2014 competition was brought home to Latvia. We won the prize together with the Alumni Association of the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga. We worked together on a social marketing campaign, and we won the prize because of its effectiveness and the extent to which it achieved its goals. The SSE Rīga talisman “Hardy Rock” allowed us to beat the world’s most prestigious universities, as well as Europe’s most distinguished advertising agencies.

It has always been important in the world of advertising to surprise the audience with fresh and creative solutions, as well as to achieve stated marketing goals. “We are truly delighted that these results not only increased the activity of donors among SSE Riga graduates and exceeded the client’s initial hopes, but were also noticed in the advertising industry at the European level,” says Andris Rubīns, who travelled to Brussels with one of the co-authors of the idea, Kristaps Siliņš, to pick up the prize.

The Euro Effie Awards were introduced in 1968 by the American Marketing Association in New York. Today they are celebrated in nearly 40 countries in the world. The awards symbolise proven advertising effectiveness and are a song of praise for partnerships between clients and agencies. The philosophy of the awards states that the value of marketing communications rests in their ability to achieve stated marketing goals. We are delighted that we succeeded in this, and so we very much thank our partner in this campaign – the SSE Riga Alumni Association. They and their talismans continue to inspire us every day. The gold medal that we won yesterday will be a powerful motivation for us to achieve even more. The same is true that we here in Latvia can do things. We can do the very best things!
