Dobele`s packaging created by DDB Latvia wins a prestigious award

This year Dobeles Dzirnavnieks has received the highest recognition in the international WorldStar for Packaging competition organised by the World Packaging Awards. This prestigious award will be presented to Dobele for its series of boxes for groceries, flakes and dry mixtures.

Jānis Birznieks, Head of the DDB Design team and the designer of Dobele packaging design is particularly honoured by this achievement: "Dobele is a vastly experienced company which over many years has developed several product lines. A uniform, clearly legible and contemporary packaging design had to be created for all products produced by the company. Being aware of Dobele rich history, origins and brand personality, in creating new packaging designs we set ourselves the goal of making sure that shoppers perceive Dobeles Dzirnavnieks’ products as being top quality and contemporary goods."

WorldStar for Packaging is the biggest professional competition in the world, and the competition prize is a major achievement within the packaging industry. The World Packaging Organisation (WPO) has organised this competition since 1970, inviting the best packaging designs chosen by national juries in Europe, Asia, the United States and Australia to be submitted for the competition.

316 works from 33 countries were submitted for this year’s competition. The winners were chosen by an international jury comprised of 25 experts from the WPO Board, as well as national and regional packaging organisations.
