TEDxRiga conference coming soon on June 13th
This week on June 13th, the Splendid Palace cinema will host Latvia’s second TEDxRiga conference which will take place under the leitmotif of "The Four Elements".
This time, the conference will be comprised of four thematic sessions: Air, Fire, Water and Earth, featuring a line-up of more than 20 speakers from Latvia and overseas.
It’s known that the speakers sharing their stories in the first thematic session "Earth" will include architect Zaiga Gaile and entrepreneur Māris Gailis, LU Medicine Faculty Associated Professor, Doctor of Biology Una Riekstiņa, DJ Monsta a.k.a. Uldis Cīrulis, fashion designer Ernest Alexander Sabine journalist Pauls Raudseps, designer Inese Īris Liepiņa, and last, but not least - Vaira Vīķe Freiberga, ex-president of Latvia.
Among the speakers we’ll hear in the "Water" section will be political scientist and writer Vita Matīsa, theatre director and writer Jan-Willem van den Bosch, social anthropologist Viesturs Celmiņš, scientist and water researcher Tālis Juhna, philosopher Arnis Rītups, artist and architect Kiršs Zilgalvis and Jānis Skutelis, the founder of ''Royal Improvisation Theatre''.
In the "Air" session, we’ll hear children’s book author and founder of the Zili brīnumi science centre Aldis Kalniņš, the "Orbita" creative collective of artists and poets, quantum computing scientist Andris Ambainis and General Practitioner Ilze Aizsilniece.
Under the "Fire" sign, the public will be addressed by the Moscow-based host of the radio and television show Silver Rain (Серебряный дождь) Alekss Dubass, an experienced businesswoman Baiba Rubesa, chef Mārtiņš Sirmais, paralympic champion Aigars Apinis, marketing consultant Zane Čulkstēna and the '' Blondblackblond'' band.
