Breakfast of Champions NO 24 - Essence of Mastery

This summer’s Breakfast of Champions was devoted to mastery in design, life stories and brewing of beer. Thanks to the latter topic, the breakfast was held this time at the Aldaris Beer Museum, where we enjoyed a tasty repast and a series of stories about mastery, but also learned about the history and traditions of brewing.
First we heard the talented DDB Latvia artist Matīss Zvaigzne talking about how to think about business challenges from the perspective of design, as well as how to analyse human habits and experiences to create sustainable products.
A similar story about mastery related to life stories, with Agnese Kleina, publisher of the Benji Knewman series of magazines, talked about adventures in which people can become involved and the thoughts that are necessary to get to true and real stories without any excessive decorations or pretence. Only then, said Agnese, that is a life about which others can read.
Dessert came from beer sommelier Andris Rasiņš, who knows the value of beer. He said that beer is like art in the sense that you can never say which painting is the most beautiful one. Similarly, beer is a matter of taste, and the craft beer enthusiast encouraged us to engage in experiments and not to stop at a single flavour. Perhaps it’s worth eating some oysters together with a glass of dark beer, as people did back in the day, when oysters were not yet seen as a delicacy?
Let’s all have a sunny summer with new discoveries in business, design, reality and truth in relation to ourselves and toward others. Of course, let’s also not forget about excellent combinations of tastes.
