IQ Camp’s 10 year anniversary
It is said that the first 10 years are the difficult ones. We can’t agree when it comes to the IQ camp, which is now regarded as legendary. In its 10 years of existence, the IQ camp has given not only a bunch of good memories, but also some rest from work to the overheated ones and enabled us - DDB Latvia, NPN and NeCom colleagues - to gain knowledge in the areas that are completely alien to us.
We have drawn on knowledge of postmodernism in contemporary literature, mozartology, critical thinking, hospitality gene and pioneers in architecture, film, street art and other fields. These topics are presented in our camp by such iconic authorities as Dita Rietuma, Uldis Pīlēns, Ieva Zībarte, Lauris Liepa, Mārtiņš Rītiņš, Māris Kupčs, Andis Sīlis, Viktors Freibergs and many others. Obviously, after the educational session always follow sports competition, improvisational theater and dance till dawn.
The 10th IQ camp was held on 1st August. This year, our minds were sharpened by bright four experts. The political scientist Žanete Ozoliņa marked the Russian-Ukrainian Conflict scenarios in geopolitics, business and technology. The art historian Jānis Borgs made known to us about Renaissance art, where, as it turns out, was born erotica and pornography. On contrary, Pēteris Krilovs refreshed with subtle and invisible matters about the art of public speaking. The informal part of the evening was introduced by Toms Grēviņš with an exciting story about the survival kit ABC in the biggest rock festivals.
This year, instead of sports competition we played the mind games "Smarty Pants", which were organized by our own strategist Artis Krilovs. The Artis’s mind games gather an impressive number of visitors at the Old Riga’s club "Nabaklab". And the event’s popularity increases every time, offering a bunch of friends to compete with their knowledge.
