LATVIAN POSTAL SERVICE BRINGS HANDWRITING BACK TO LIFE

LATVIAN POSTAL SERVICE BRINGS HANDWRITING BACK TO LIFE

When was the last time you wrote a handwritten message to someone else? Would you be able to recognise the handwriting of your best friend or, perhaps, your own father?

“We live in an era that is saturated with SMS messages, fairly impersonal posts on Facebook or Draugiem.lv,” says the head of marketing and service development at the Latvian Postal Service, Inese Kalveite. “We are daring to bring handwriting back to life, calling on our clients to send personalised and handwritten Christmas greetings this year.”

Twelve celebrities, including Gustavs Terzens, Māris Olte, Māra Kampernova, Inese Vaikule, Jānis Skutelis, Toms Grēviņš and others whose identities will be revealed later in a Facebook game, were asked to demonstrate the beauty and value of their handwriting. Everyone we approached agreed immediately, and handwriting was a bit of a challenge for them. On Facebook, we are inviting people to guess which of two celebrities produced the sample of handwriting that is displayed. We have supplemented the Facebook activities with greetings from Māra Kampernova and Gustavs Terzens on the Latvian Postal Service homepage, on posters at post offices all around Latvia, and on Internet banners.

The campaign has been unbelievably successful! People have been sharing Facebook posts and trying to guess the right answer. Every fifth author of the correct response will receive a set of cards to send to loved ones during the holidays. Take part in the guessing game, and this year send personal and handwritten greetings for Christmas!
