Strategy Sergeant Lapiņš at Your Service!

A bit of rational news – we have a new strategist. A bit of emotional news – we’re just delighted. We believe that’s how we need to begin the announcement that Edgars Lapiņš has joined DDB Consulting. On the one hand, he is very rational, deeply digging and critically thinking, trying to see the world without any filters. On the other hand, he is a hopeless optimist who believes in all that is good, in Latvia and in people, always hoping to improve that which is good.

What did this man do before? “I was a banker during the day and recovered taxpayer funds, working together with my team to beat prognoses, and at night I popularised science,” he says. Edgars established the SkeptiCafe, which seeks to facilitate science and critical thinking in Latvia. He taught a course on critical thinking and argumentation at the University of Latvia and appeared at TEDxRiga 2014 with a presentation about scepticism.

Edgars is a runner so as to order his own thoughts. That is meditation that “turns on the washing machine of the mind, after which all of the laundry is clean and can be arranged on shelves,” he says. We think that Edgars is a fairly high-level specialist – a man who has enough strategic thinking to be known as Sergeant Lapiņš. He, however, is very humane and always open to growth. “There is no one in the world from whom we cannot learn something new,” he says.

We agree. Edgars will teach us how to merge healthy distrust in all that has not been proven with absolute and irrefutable faith in that which is good.
