TEDXRIGA 2015: THE POWER OF SMALL!

This year the TEDxRiga idea conference will be held at the Splendid Palace theatre on June 11. The theme of the court conference is “The Power of Small.” One of the people who are organising the conference, Pāvils Jurjāns: “We often hear that we cannot really change anything in politics, business, the educational system, and so on, but there are people who do such things and set an example to excite and inspire others, as well as to change public opinions and attitudes. This year the TEDxRiga conference will particularly focus on the major changes that each of us can create so as to make our lives and the lives of those who are around us more purposeful, interesting and better.”

Twenty inspirational and educational speakers will be on hand at the idea conference – Lielvārds education company founder and director Aivars Gribusts, photographer and co-founder of the prestigious International Photography Summer School, Iveta Vaivode, urbanist and architect Evelīna Ozola, epidemiologist and infectologist Uga Dumpis, social anthropologist and Rīga Stradiņš University lector Klāvs Sedlenieks, Info.gram finance director and debate culture co-founder and activist Mārtiņš Vaivars, architect Austris Mailītis, who has worked on global projects, the director of the Strategic Development Department of the Latvian National Library, Uldis Zariņš, Oxford University anthropology lector Dace Dzenovska, physician and former Latvian President Valdis Zatlers, and others. Like every year, this year we also organised the TEDxRiga Story Hunt, and the 2015 winner was Mārtiņš Zaumanis. His story will be presented on the large stage of the conference on June 11, and it will focus on the use of used road cover to create new road cover.
