The Agriculture of Culture: TedxRiga for 3rd Year

The TEDxRiga event will be held for the third year this year, and for the second year it will be held at Rīga’s oldest cinema, Splendid Palace. The Leitmotif for the conference: The Agriculture of Culture.

“During the conference, we will look at how to plant, grow, protect and share ideas,” says one of the organisers of the TEDxRiga event, Pāvils Jurjāns. “It is said that the foundation for a good harvest is a set of prerequisites, and we believe that the foundation of a good idea, too, involves the same rules as those that apply when growing apple trees or rye.”

The TEDxRiga conference will involve four thematic sessions, and each will be concluded with an artistic performance. More than 20 speakers from Latvia and abroad will take part. We already know that among them will be the composer Ēriks Ešenvalds, the lawyer and university lecturer Lauris Liepa, the science journalist Sandra Kropa, the businessman, investor and IT specialist Jānis Bergs, the Vietnamese artist Kao Viet Ngujen, who declares himself to be a Latvian, the American-Latvian chef Kārlis Celms, and others. The visual identity of TEDxRiga has always been in the hands of Dmitrijs Pavlovs, or Zagga, who is a prize-winning designer from DDB Latvia.

As always, the TEDxRiga organizers announced a “Story Hunt” at the beginning of the year. The jury chose Ghetto Games organiser Raimonds Elbakjans as the winner, and he will be able to appear on stage to talk about his life, passions and responsibilities in terms of inspiring others to do good things.
